It was important to me to share why I drink this every morning, rather than simply saying, “Here… check this out.”
One of my biggest goals with The Nourishment Shift is to help us understand how our bodies work, instead of just trying to treat symptoms.
I’m not a doctor, but I am a dot-connector … and I absolutely love learning, researching, and sharing what I’ve discovered in hopes that it helps someone else.
The more we understand our bodies…
The better decisions we can make for them.
One of the two drinks contains a blend of five different soluble fibers, including guar gum, locust bean gum, citrus pectin, oat fiber, and beta-glucans.
It also contains additional plant-derived viscous fibers (called polysaccharides) that form a gel when mixed with water.
Why does that matter? Because viscous soluble fibers can:
- Some help slow how quickly carbohydrates are digested.
- Some help support healthy cholesterol.
- Some feed the beneficial bacteria in our gut.
- Some help us stay satisfied longer.
- Together, they help support healthy blood sugar, digestive health, and metabolic health.
Together, they support digestive health, metabolic health, and a healthy gut microbiome.
- Every time we eat, our blood sugar naturally rises; which is completely normal.
- In response, our body releases insulin, a hormone that helps move that sugar out of our bloodstream and into our cells where it can be used for energy.
- We need insulin, but when our blood sugar rises and drops sharply over and over throughout the day, our body has to keep releasing insulin to do its job.
That’s one reason why researchers have become so interested in simple ways to help support steadier blood sugar throughout the day.
I also sip on another drink throughout the morning and again throughout the afternoon. It has completely replaced my old coffee habit, and I really look forward to it every day.
Then, once you understand how these two drinks work together, I’ll show you one simple lifestyle habit that made everything finally click for me.
It doesn’t require eating special foods or counting calories, it simply gives our bodies regular breaks between meals, so insulin (fat storage hormone) isn’t being asked to do its job all day long.
Once I understood why that mattered, it completely changed the way I thought about eating.
