18- Four Simple Habits That Changed Everything for Me

Supporting healthy blood sugar doesn’t have to be complicated.

I didn’t completely overhaul my life overnight. I started with four simple habits.

  • I eat fiber first whenever possible.

Fiber helps slow digestion and can help reduce how quickly blood sugar rises after a meal.

(And yes… I’ve found a simple tool that makes getting enough fiber every day so much easier. I’ll share more about that soon! 😉)

  • Prioritize protein.

Protein helps keep us satisfied longer and supports healthy muscle, which plays an important role in metabolism.

One of my goals is to eat around 100 grams of protein a day, and I promise, it doesn’t have to be boring! 😊

We have lots of delicious, high-protein recipes inside our Holistic Nutrition Course. It’s available to all active clients. If you’d like more information, just send me a message

  • Give your body a break between meals.

I stopped snacking all day long.

Instead, I focus on eating nourishing, satisfying meals and allowing my body time between them. That simple change helped me realize I wasn’t actually hungry nearly as often as I thought.

  • Move after meals.

Even a 10–15 minute walk can help your muscles use glucose for energy.

  • Protect your sleep.

You knew this one was coming… 😉 I’ve been talking about sleep for years! It’s not so easy with an elderly dog in the house right now…but I keep focusing on it!

Poor sleep affects hunger hormones, cravings, stress hormones and blood sugar more than most people realize.

Our bodies do some of their most important repair work while we sleep.

Notice what isn’t on this list…

  • No detox.
  • No starvation.
  • No spending hours in the gym.
  • No expensive meal plan.
  • No chasing the latest fad diet.

Just simple habits that help support the way our bodies were designed to work.

These four habits became the foundation of everything else.
