If you grew up in the 80s or 90s like I did, you probably remember this…”Eat low-fat.”, “Fat makes you fat.”
So, what did we do?
We bought low-fat yogurt.
Low-fat dressing.
Low-fat cookies.
Low-fat everything.
We replaced healthy fats with more sugar and processed ingredients.
No wonder so many of us were constantly hungry!
Healthy fats help support:
- Our brain (which is made up largely of fat!)
- Hormone production
- Healthy cells
- Vitamin absorption (A, D, E & K)
- Feeling satisfied after a meal
Some of my favorites are:
- Avocados
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Nuts and seeds
- Salmon
- Eggs
I’m not saying we should eat unlimited amounts.
Sometimes we’ve been avoiding exactly what our bodies needed all along.
